DFAT’s Equity Hub uses evidence, research and good practice to ensure Australia is a thought leader and partner of choice for progressing gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion in our region and globally.
As part of DFAT’s Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Branch (GEB), Equity Hub provides a one-stop shop for integrated gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion (GEDSI) advice and other services to DFAT staff. While primarily focused on development and humanitarian assistance, it has capacity to provide some non-development support.
Equity Hub runs a helpdesk on gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion that can be accessed by DFAT staff.
Through integrated advisory services and research, analysis and learning, Equity Hub will support DFAT's international commitments to equity, inclusion and rights.
Equity Hub's Helpdesk provides targeted GEDSI advice to DFAT staff to strengthen program outcomes, policy and advocacy on gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion. The helpdesk delivers both rapid and longer-term tasking.
Equity Hub manages a panel of specialists in gender equality, disability equity, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, First Nations engagement and related areas from across the region and globally. Panel members provide DFAT-ready and practical advice and bring local and lived experience.
Equity Hub consolidates, contributes to and strengthens the evidence base for inclusion and rights. Its proactive stream focuses on reducing bottlenecks to better equity practice, developing capability, while anticipating future needs in support of DFAT’s evolving operating context.
Through Insight Sprints, briefs and other events and products, Equity Hub will make evidence accessible, digestible, relevant, practical and timely.
The Equity Knowledge Hub will make evidence available to all. The Knowledge Hub will activate in mid-2026 and be continually expanded, including curated resources from the previous SURGE and DID4All resource libraries.
Equity Hub will support sectoral and international engagement to showcase Australia's leadership on gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion, and share Australia’s evidence-based good practice.
