Practical guidelines for co-researching with persons with disabilities: reflections and lessons learned in participatory research on inclusive WASH in humanitarian responses

These guidelines set out how to conduct participatory research with people with disabilities, drawing on the reflections, lessons and practice examples of the authors' own work. They were produced by Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Indonesia and the Philippines from a participatory research project on inclusive water, sanitation and hygiene in humanitarian responses.

The guidelines work through what co-researching requires in practice, from recruiting and supporting co-researchers with disabilities through to accessible methods, ethics and how findings are owned and used. They are intended as a reference for participatory research more broadly, particularly in humanitarian response and social inclusion, and are accompanied by a short set of tips for co-researching with people with disabilities. All the resources are available in English and Indonesian and in easy read format.
