Diverse SOGIESC toolkit
The Diverse SOGIESC Toolkit is a practical resource for humanitarian and disaster risk management practitioners working to include people of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC). It recognises that people with diverse SOGIESC often experience disasters differently, because preparedness, early warning, evacuation and recovery systems are usually designed around binary gender norms.
Developed through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership's Disaster READY program, the toolkit offers guidance, practical tools and examples to support inclusive participation in community-based disaster risk management. It is designed to help organisations engage safely and respectfully with diverse SOGIESC communities and strengthen protection outcomes.
