Building effective funding structures for prevention of violence against women and girls: aspirations and barriers among women's rights organisations
This report examines what effective funding looks like for women's rights organisations working to prevent violence against women and girls. It draws on consultations with 58 women's rights organisations across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, and sets out both their aspirations for bilateral and multilateral funding and the barriers that keep them from securing it.
The recommendations focus on how grant-making structures could better support women's rights organisations and feminist movement building, and are organised as steps donors can take at each stage of the grant-making process, from how calls are designed and advertised through to application requirements, contracting, reporting and exit. It is intended for donors and intermediary funders reviewing how their funding reaches frontline organisations.
