Funding women peacebuilders: dismantling barriers to peace

This report analyses the barriers to funding women peacebuilders, as experienced both by donors and by the local women's organisations working to build peace, promote rights and prevent or counter violent extremism in fragile, conflict-affected and violent contexts. It sets out where funding systems break down, from eligibility and registration requirements through to grant size, duration, reporting burden and risk transfer.

Alongside that analysis the report highlights recent developments, including examples of funding models and mechanisms that have worked, and provides operational guidance and recommendations for governments and for multilateral, international non-government and philanthropic organisations. The recommendations address changes to policy, procedure and institutional culture needed to improve grant-making to women's peacebuilding organisations. The report is also available in Spanish, Turkish, Farsi, French and Arabic.
