The gender dimensions of forced displacement: a synthesis of new research
This synthesis draws together new research on how gender inequality shapes the extent and patterns of poverty among forcibly displaced populations. It examines how conflict and displacement in turn affect gender norms, and what that means for the prevalence of intimate partner violence and child marriage among displaced women and girls.
The report brings together findings from across the World Bank's Gender Dimensions of Forced Displacement programme and sets out recommendations for designing and implementing policies and programmes that improve safety and expand economic opportunities for displaced women. It covers work, agency and voice alongside poverty measurement, and identifies where the evidence is still thin.
