Podcast: Gender, health systems resilience and equity
In this Connecting Citizens to Science podcast episode, researchers discuss why health systems resilience, conflict, pandemics and other shocks matter globally, and how health systems projects have aimed to work on equity and justice. The conversation argues that the health of a population is a good barometer of how much a society has invested in it, and that today's episode is going to be focused on gender and health.
Guests include Abrit Aryal from HERD International in Nepal, who leads on the qualitative and participatory approaches in ReBUILD and has experience in public health, health service delivery, social value and gender and equity; Rouham Yamout, who works at the American University of Beirut and is a medical doctor with over 20 years of experience working with public health; and Dr Val Percival of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University, whose research focuses on the arenas of health, the measurement and meaning of the suffering of civilians in violent conflict, and humanitarian emergencies.
