The Global Innovation Fund uses gender analysis tools to consider each of its investments through a gender lens. This toolkit supports the analysis of gender issues for innovations focused specifically on gender impact, and the consideration of gender issues for innovations primarily focused on non-gender outcomes, so that every investment is analysed for gender impact.

The toolkit comprises three components: a gender equality framework, which shows how the Fund looks at innovations that increase the agency of women and girls; a gender marker, which helps to quickly assess an innovation's gender dimensions; and a set of gender questions, which provides a cohesive conceptual framework for analysing gender in innovation and an analysis-to-action tool for identifying specific steps to strengthen strategy and capacity.
