Handwashing behaviour change: learning from Water for Women

Produced by the DFAT-funded Water for Women Fund, this learning brief consolidates approaches and lessons on improving handwashing behaviours across 20 civil society organisation projects in 15 countries.

Based on a rapid scan of mid-term reviews, knowledge and learning products and project reporting, it describes the strategies partners have adopted, argues that handwashing with soap must sit at the heart of WASH programming given its potential to improve health, wellbeing and dignity, and identifies where stronger monitoring and analysis is needed.
