Organisations of Persons with Disabilities: making a difference in Vanuatu and Solomon Islands

This report presents two comparative case studies examining the roles and impact of organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) in disaster preparedness and response in Vanuatu and Solomon Islands. It identifies the key challenges and enablers that constrain or support OPDs' contributions to the sector, applying a localisation lens to strengthen OPD empowerment and leadership.

Commissioned through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership Support Unit and drawing on the case studies and an extensive desk review, the report offers evidence and recommendations to support more locally-led, disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction.
