Shifting social norms for transformative WASH: review of concepts, literature and practice

This review, produced by the DFAT-funded Water for Women Fund, is the evidence companion to the Fund's guidance on shifting social norms in WASH. It is written for those wanting a deeper dive into norms — program planners and managers, technical advisers, and monitoring, evaluation and learning staff already integrating gender equality, disability and social inclusion into programming.

It reviews concepts, literature and practice on changing harmful and exclusionary social norms in WASH contexts, supported by case studies from Fund partners across Asia and the Pacific.
