Data collection with and about people with diverse SOGIESC in social protection: recommendations from a review of literature
This literature review, prepared by Edge Effect for DFAT's "We See You" project, examines current best practice for collecting and using data on LGBTQIA+ (SOGIESC) people across social protection, humanitarian aid, international development and public health. It draws on 31 papers (15 peer-reviewed and 16 grey literature items) to identify recommendations and critical considerations for SOGIESC-inclusive data collection.
The review identifies knowledge gaps and offers critical considerations for translating LGBTQIA+ data collection best practice into DFAT, social protection and humanitarian contexts, supporting more meaningful inclusion of diverse SOGIESC communities in programming.
