This learning brief shares findings from the third of three learning groups convened under the DFAT-funded Water for Women Fund's 2023–24 Learning Agenda, which asked why and how gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) is critical to climate-resilient WASH.

It argues that the most marginalised people in communities are at the frontline of climate hazards and must be part of decision-making if climate resilience solutions are to be context-appropriate and sustainable. It sets out how transformative GEDSI addresses the linkages between climate change, WASH, resilience, equity and inclusion, and how social, habitat, institutional, financial and technical barriers compound for people experiencing intersectional disadvantage.
