Trade drives gender equality and development
Published in the IMF's Finance & Development magazine, this article summarises the World Bank-WTO Women and Trade report, examining how trade affects women differently as workers, consumers and decision-makers. It argues that international cooperation on trade policy and trade facilitation, alongside complementary investment in education, finance and digital access, can advance gender equality without needing to explicitly target women.
