Women and trade: the role of trade in promoting gender equality
This joint World Bank and World Trade Organization report examines how trade affects women as workers, consumers and decision-makers, drawing on sex-disaggregated labour data across 72 countries and a database of gender-related provisions in trade agreements. It finds trade-integrated firms employ a higher share of women, associates greater trade openness with higher gender equality, and outlines trade policies that could further advance women's economic empowerment.
