Building women's economic empowerment into climate transitions

This helpdesk report examines how climate change affects women, what is required for gender-inclusive climate action, and how to create gender-inclusive opportunities in green growth sectors. It was prepared by the Work and Opportunities for Women programme as pre-reading for a Wilton Park conference on women's economic empowerment and the climate transition.

The report summarises recent evidence on women's exposure to climate impacts and their participation in the sectors expected to grow through the transition, then sets out a framework for action aimed at national governments, businesses, civil society organisations and other stakeholders. It covers skills and training pathways, labour market access, workplace conditions and the policy settings needed for women to benefit from, rather than be displaced by, climate transitions.
